Explore Barcelona With The Heart of a Spaniard

Getting lost in the Gothic Quarter when you explore Barcelona is right of passage for travelers of the classic Spanish city.  Every street winds and crosses like a labyrinth spreads from the center across the coastal side of Barcelona.  Being there during the summer thousands of people crowd the slim alleyway streets.  They shop, they eat, they skateboard, they sing.

What is really cool about Barcelona is all the great cafes, as a writer, I would just find a cafe that sits snug in a small Placa with some outdoor seating in the square and enjoy yourself some tapas, maybe a couple of drinks, and people watch for hours and hours.

The culture you find when you explore Barcelona is one that anyone willing, can fall right into.  The rush isn’t there.  Sit smoke a cigar, flirt with some locals, drink delicious wine, great food and anything else you hope for.  Butcher shops cure meats in their windows, and big slabs of prosciutto.  My mouth waters as I walk around.  Grab some paper thin prosciutto, grab a melon from one of the million produce stands and head to the beach.

It fascinates me the difference between a place like Spain and what Northern Europe is like.  It’s a very non judgemental place in my opinion.  People are very relaxed and the pace of Barcelona is very take your time and enjoy yourself.

Some great albums to listen to while you are roaming around, what I consider, the most beautiful place on earth are:

Wu-Tang Clan: Wu Tang Forever Double LP

Spooky Black: Leaving EP

EPMD: Business As Usual

Savages: Silence Yourself

Raekwon: Only Built For Cuban Linx II
